“Hi, I do landscaping and garden design in Gauteng.”
As a handyman, you might imagine me being more at ease with perhaps a toolbox than with a rake and spade…
But actually landscaping, yard clearance and garden design are amongst my core services.
What is landscaping?
In a nutshell, making modifications to land features.
The reasons behind this might be functional or aesthetic.
Either way, being able to stage your outdoor living space according to plan can make a big difference to your household’s enjoyment of home.
Popular landscaping installations include:
- rigging up some garden lighting
- plumbing in water features
- installing a rockery
- laying down irrigation
- setting up rainwater harvesting
When talking landscaping with clients, I generally break things down into 4 categories:
- Living stuff
- Natural features
- Abstract elements
These elements all come together and contribute to the overall presentation.
Making the most of what you have in area, present features, budget to achieve your vision.
Few examples of landscaping
Block paving and decking installations are common projects that I handle.
After all, they are a blend of construction and landscaping.
I often put up photo examples on my blog reel, you can find more there from time to time.
Why landscaping is a good idea for your property
1st and last impressions.
When arriving at a property for the first time, the front yard space or driveway is key to framing its esteem.
You get an idea of who lives there and their generally level of care by just looking at the property frontage.
Upon entering into the house, the interior design and decor then make their mark.
But finally, (should the owner reveal their backyard space) – as a visitor you can walk away being totally overwhelmed having best compliments toward your host.
Now, that’s personal context.
But what about when you are looking to sell?
Said simply, any features which lift the appearance or function of the house, are also likely to lift the price – to the right buyer, of course.
